GENERAL : December 2009 update

The best laid plans...

The speed album project, which I mentioned in the last post, did not come to bear the fruit of a full albumsworth of music. So, apologies on promising you that.

On the plus side, the title track "Anisometric" does sound nice, so I'll finish that off and put it up for download soon.

Also, one of the other tracks worked well and with a little tweaking is working nicely as a new version of one of the large amount of old tracks which I like, but want to rework. Expect a FutureKill update soon, too!

Other than that, not much to report. Carry on!

GENERAL : November 2009 update

Not posted for a while, so post I shall.

I've embarked upon a "write an album in a month" project. It shall culminate at the end of November in a free to download album which I'm pretty certain will be called "Anisometric". So far, two tracks are on the go. Expect more. Expect a cover version of something too. :)

Otherwise, the High Eight "Thru Time" remix is still awaiting release, and along with that there's talk of Realism getting a release, but more info on that as and when.

Also, I'm working on a new game remix. More info on that, also, when the time is right.

And finally, I've added a link to the Personal Links side bar, which takes you to my Hobnox profile page. I've only just signed up, so I'm not sure what the dillyo is but I expect you'll be able to find my usual tracks up there for streaming.

Happy Bonfire Night!

COMMUNITY : ASAP activity kersplosion

Those production masters A Scholar And A Physician have pulled out their collective finger and are making their album happen, having signed to Brainlove Records.

Step one? Release "She's A Witch" as a triple A-side single, alongside "I'm Not Normal" and "Shouldn't Dwell".

Step two? Make a video for "She's A Witch".

Dilligent followers of this anemic webpage will know that I have contributed tracks to the ASAP free albums, collaborated on the 'overnight sensation' Mario Dirty Mix with ASAP and richBRF, and have even played on stage at Truck Festival as backing for ASAP. I even rapped once. As such, I wholeheartedly endorse this product or service. As details on where to buy the single and album appear, I'll add 'em.

If you need more reason to check out the video, know this: they rhyme "Witch" with "Quidditch".

MUSIC: Mario Dirty Mix

Click me for live mario goodness!

Eet's a-me! Mario! Well, Binst really. But this page is concerning the ubiquitus plumbulator. Let's take a journey...

A journey back in time, way back to April of 2002. A Scholar, A Physican, A RichBRF, A Nervous Testpilot and A I got together and decided to embark upon a Chinese Remix - mix a song, pass it along, chinese whispers with beats basically. The tune we decided to mangle was Super Mario Brothers' main piece.

So just how does one make a chinese remix? Well, for a start one cannot. But more than one can. And thus the meeting of minds was called together. The tune began life with Rich - who parped a little bit of big brass band sounds into the original theme. Then messrs Scholar and Physician got their hands on it - one providing "wild, wild beats" (quote unquote DJ Pretzel) and one providing sample magic and, uh, small boy natter. This was passed on to yours truly, who added some parsley style sprigs of sample magic (and the middle electro breakdown). This formed the basis of the Dirty Mix - the one you may have heard before.

Nervous Testpilot likes to destroy things. Destroy them in intricate aural ways. And this is what he did to the mix. To have a listen to this, go to his homepage at http://www.nervoustestpilot.co.uk

Anyway, the Dirty Mix was sent off to DJ Pretzel, he put it up online and it was well received. Then, a while after all this, it became known to us (the remixers) that a feller called Mortis had made a flash movie using the Dirty Mix as the basis. The fruits of his labour were The Super Mario Blitz. This was, at the start of February, sent to Newgrounds.com, a big depository of flash movies and stuff. Since then, the movie was viewed by 180,000 and reviewed by around 700 people. Which was a bit of a surprise.

And if you want to see what it looks like when it's done live, then check out the following link.
